Hotel Flor Tampa Downtown Awarded with Prestigious Accolades for Citywide Contributions and Culinary Achievements

Tapestry Collection Hotel by Hilton has been recognized for the “Urban Excellence” and “Judge’s Choice” Awards

TAMPA, FLA (April 8th, 2024) – Downtown Tampa’s historic gem, Hotel Flor Tampa recently secured Tampa Downtown Partnership’s “Urban Excellence” Award honoring the hotel’s initiatives that have contributed to a positive impact on downtown Tampa’s culture. Hotel Flor won the award for the Landmark Development Project which “recognizes an iconic building that serves as a magnet to attract people to Downtown by improving the physical environment or by enhancing the economic, cultural or social well-being of the area.”

Over the past several years, Hotel Flor Tampa Downtown has worked alongside several organizations to significantly impact the NoDo District in Tampa with initiatives including furniture and linen donations, hygiene kits to those in need, and food drives, partnered with notable non-profits such as Home Makers of Hope, ZooTampa, Florida Aquarium, Metropolitan Ministries, and Dawning Family Services. The Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotel has been honored to contribute to the revitalization of the city. The organization also teamed up with Tampa Downtown Partnership in reviving areas in NoDo that had become occupied with crime and homelessness through the removal of unsanctioned shelters and squatting grounds.

Hotel Flor Tampa’s Executive Chef Dernier Buleje, culinary mastermind at Roaring Twenties inspired restaurant, The Dan, also attained the Judge’s Choice award at this year’s Taste of South Tampa event. Executive Chef Buleje impressed judges and attendees with Short Ribs served wild mushrooms, asparagus, lardons, truffle cream, parsnip velvet, and Bourbon Bread Pudding with plantain foster sauce, pecans and vanilla cream.

Additionally, The Dan secured the “People’s Choice” award for Tours of Taste at the 31st Annual ExTravelganza event hosted by the Tampa Bay Hospitality Alliance last November. Tours of Taste offered attendees the chance to experience the culinary scene of Tampa Bay with food and beverage samplings from some of the area’s top chefs and restaurants, and renowned wine and spirits from top producers. A people’s vote named Hotel Flor’s ritzy dining establishment, The Dan as the winner for the “People’s Choice” award.

This is the harsh truth: most HVAC failures happen because someone ignored a step. Did not calculate the load accurately. Used cheap equipment. Misjudged the insulation needs. We’ve personally fixed countless of these messes. And each and every time, we record another lesson. Like in 2017, when we started adding WiFi controls to each system. Why? Because Sarah, our lead tech, got frustrated of watching homeowners lose money on bad temperature control. Now clients save 20-30% yearly.

This is the brutal truth: the majority of HVAC failures occur because someone skipped a step. Failed to calculate the load correctly. Used undersized equipment. Miscalculated the insulation needs. We’ve fixed hundreds of these failures. And every time, we remember another insight. Like in 2017, when we began adding smart thermostats to each system. Why? Because Sarah, our master tech, got tired of watching homeowners waste money on inefficient temperature settings. Now clients save $500+ yearly.

Let me share the brutal truth: nearly all HVAC failures occur because someone skipped a step. Did not calculate the load properly. Used incorrect equipment. Got wrong the insulation needs. We’ve personally fixed hundreds of these failures. And each time, we record another lesson. Like in 2017, when we decided on adding smart thermostats to all install. Why? Because Sarah, our master tech, got sick of watching homeowners lose money on inefficient temperature settings. Now clients save 20-30% yearly.
