Peak Performance Sports Therapy is elated to call the Grand Central District of St. Petersburg “home”. The specialized practice is one of two in the state of Florida, and Dr. Matthew Maggio seized the opportunity for expansion when the location at 2021 First Avenue North became available. The doctor, an NCAA Division 3 athlete, started the practice in 2013, trained in the Integrative Diagnosis system and focusing his practice on Manual and Instrument Adhesion Release – methods to restore mobility and relieve pain.
The specialized practice is by appointment only, and treats the following conditions: headaches, nerve pain, disc injuries, numbness, shoulder impingement, bursitis, rotator cuff injury, elbow pain, low back pain, sciatica, ankle and achilles pain, plantar fascitis, shin splints, knee pain, runners knee, tendinitis and more.
Dr. Maggio received his doctorate of chiropractic in 2011, but wasn’t satisfied with the philosophies or the results of traditional chiropractic medicine. He went on to study active release, followed by integrative diagnosis instrument assisted release, and is level 5 certified in integrative diagnosis. Dr. Maggio’s interest in sports therapy came after receiving an injury in NCAA Division 3 football. He was told his football career was over, but after a successful non-invasive, natural treatment methods to an otherwise career-ending spinal injury, he returned to football and received first-team All-Conference recognition.
