Era-Inspired Jazz & Pop Performance by Gloria West & the Gents, 1930’s Hand-Crafted Libations, Dancing, and Theme Party at Beach Drive’s Flute & Dram December 5th
Tampa Bay, FLA (November 27, 2019) – December 5th marks the end of the Prohibition era and Beach Drive’s Flute & Dram is commemorating this historic milestone with a special Repeal Day party. Guests are invited to wear era-inspired attire while enjoying an intimate concert by jazz vocalist Gloria West, a 1930’s craft cocktail menu, and an evening of dancing. Fringe dresses, arm garters, striped suits, fedora hats – and all that jazz – are encouraged with a prize for ‘most spirited’ and runners up. The party kicks off at 5pm for libations and chef’s curated menu, and Gloria West & the Gents take stage at 8pm.
The Show
Gloria West and The Gents bring old school stride-swing jazz with a sultry twist to stages across Tampa Bay, including Clearwater Jazz Holiday, The St. Pete Coliseum, and Tampa Theatre. They deliver originals, pop covers, favorites from the 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s, and even old-time movie classics and Disney songs, all with an old jazz feel. From classic mid-tempo swing-dancing numbers to sultry torch songs on the edge of the blues, their fast-paced high-energy and her ‘killer vocals’ are guaranteed to get anyone’s foot tapping. Creative Loafing says about West, “One of the most dynamic voices working in the [Tampa] Bay area.”

Bee’s Knees – gin, lemon juice, honey syrup, garnished with lemon
Mary Pickford – white rum, pineapple juice, grenadine, luxardo, garnished with pineapple wedge
Sidecar – rye whiskey, triple sec, lemon juice, with a half sugar rim
Hemingway Daiquiri – white rum, grapefruit juice, lime juice, luxardo, simple syrup with a grapefruit wedge
